When it comes to staying connected to Crummer, Joshua Snyder has worn just about every hat—student, staff member and alumni leader. Since earning his MBA from the Crummer Graduate School of Business in 2010, Joshua has built a successful career at NEOGOV, helping lead strategic partnerships during a period of explosive growth.
Along the way, Snyder has remained deeply involved with the Crummer community, serving as a member of the Crummer Alumni Advisory Board and helping alumni stay connected in a rapidly changing world. As his time on the board comes to a close, Josh shares a few of the insights, highlights, and lessons that made his experience so meaningful.
1. Reflecting on your time with the board, what moment or accomplishment stands out as most impactful to you?
Going into my final Giving Day, several board members were travelling or buried in work and we had several board members that had yet to give. I decided we couldn’t have a Giving Day on my final year on the board without 100% board participation, so I worked with a handful of my other board members to make sure that everyone got their donations in which happened very late in the evening, but we did it!
2.How has your perspective on Crummer or its alumni community evolved during your time on the board?
Seeing the level of engagement from the other board members who have served over my tenure is inspiring. Everyone knows that Rollins has a very passionate and engaged alumni base, but Crummer also has very passionate alums that want to maintain strong bonds with the school and support it long after graduation.
3. What challenges or surprises did you encounter while serving, and how did they shape your experience?
Joining the board isn’t how you engage. You have to get engaged in committees and raise your hand to find opportunities to get involved and give back, but when you do, those are the rewarding experiences of being on the board.
4. What advice or encouragement would you offer to future board members stepping into this role?
Your fellow leaders on this board are great people and alums. Get to know them and find ways to spend time with them. Champion initiatives that you feel will help the school, and learn from what’s been done and get involved in the great work we are already doing to help it grow!
