Ahmed Kamel, D.B.A

At the Crummer Graduate school of Business, we are dedicated to creating the next generation of AI-augmented leaders. As a faculty member, I am dedicated to the development of our students and future leaders to thrive in the AI era by shifting the mindset from “What is the answer?” to defining “What is the problem we are trying to solve and through what lens?” This mindset shift is one of the key tenets of Human-AI collaboration and AI-augmented leaders.

Dr. Kamel has more than two decades experience in the automotive and power generation industry with a focus on innovation engineering. His expertise in innovation engineering is driven by Einstein’s view that certain issues cannot be solved with the same kind of thinking that created the issue in the first place. He has significant international experience and has been awarded more than 100 patents in the US, Europe, and Asia. He was the recipient of the 2022 Innovation and Entrepreneurship award by the IEOM Society International for his research work on the adoption enablers of 3D printing technology in US households for home manufacturing which opens opportunities for social entrepreneurship. In 2023, a sample of his innovative work was cited in an Orlando business Journal article: “See what some Orlando area inventors are doing to improve life for the rest of us.” 

Currently, Dr. Kamel is a senior key expert of additive manufacturing and innovation at Siemens Energy. Within this role he is spearheading key projects on the accelerated development of novel 3D printable materials for gas turbine applications using Artificial intelligence. Many of these novel materials are being introduced to customer gas turbines for enhanced performance. 

In his spare time, he enjoys listening to saxophone music, free style dancing, reading on culture, theology and politics, and working on his wife’s fun interior design projects.
