What We Do

The Edyth Bush Institute for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Leadership (EBI) connects and strengthens nonprofit and philanthropic organizations through inspiring educational experiences.

These offerings increase the effectiveness of board governance, enhance the business practices of nonprofit organizations, and expand the influence of the nonprofit sector.

About Us

We are a Crummer Center of Excellence that was born out of the Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation’s workroom.

  • Generosity: We value the spirit of giving that is the heart of philanthropy and nonprofit work.
  • Integrity: We value strong ethics and commit ourselves to maintaining principled and professional standards for performance, resource utilization, and accountability in our work.
  • Inclusive Service: We endeavor to ascertain and respond to our stakeholders’ needs with utmost respect and personal attention. We welcome individuals from diverse walks of life with varying competencies and experiences who strive to educate themselves and their organizations.
  • Learning & Inspiration: We strive to remain informed about current issues, trends, and best practices in the nonprofit sector and to model and encourage discovery, creativity, and reflection.
  • “With”: We will work to foster a community of collaboration, teamwork, inclusivity, and partnership with our stakeholders.
  • Quality Transformation: We aim to instill and foster a culture of continuous improvement, excellence, and alignment with these organizational values as top priorities.

We follow a membership model where individuals and organizations pay an annual fee and receive special member benefits. These include:

  • Professional Development: reduced training rates, reduced coaching rates, and scholarship opportunities for organizational members
  • Networking Opportunities: member orientation sessions, members-only events, nonprofit affinity groups, and an online member directory
  • Nonprofit Resources: member rates for special reports, members-only email communications, access to Candid’s Foundation directory, and several more for organizational members

The Edyth Bush Institute for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Leadership offers a variety of professional growth opportunities. These include:

  • Nonprofit training: Whether in-person or virtual, our workshops and programs are designed to grow individuals and teams, driving organizational impact.
  • Leadership Development: Providing nonprofit executive leaders access to coaching and peer learning groups to build confidence, knowledge, and skills.
  • Custom Solutions: Tailor-made programming and support to help your organization achieve its goals and address its most pressing needs.
  • Community-Based Capacity Building: Helping nonprofits reach new heights through cohort-style learning, one community at a time.

Empowering Good is a cohort-style program that combines online self-paced modules, in-person workshops, live virtual sessions and the support of a qualified, experienced coach to help your nonprofit reach new heights.

We’re reaching milestones that we never have before, and that’s due to the classes I’ve taken at the Edyth Bush Institute. I just couldn’t be more grateful.

The Edyth Bush Institute’s programming has been integral to my work and growth as a nonprofit leader and executive director. Whatever it is that you’re looking to learn about the nonprofit sector, the Edyth Bush Institute will have a resource for that.

Since joining Empowering Good, our nonprofit has grown tremendously! If your nonprofit is considering joining the Empowering Good cohort, you will reorganize, rethink, and redesign in a way that will serve your nonprofit for years to come.
